As part of our broader commitment to providing non-medical home care in Colorado, instead of having a doctor or agency determine who provides adult and pediatric support services in your home, you make these decisions. Our Colorado IHSS program enables you to direct your in-home care through a participating home health agency.

Who Benefits from Our Colorado IHSS?

IHSS is designed for individuals who need specific and detailed medical care at home or support to live independently. Our Colorado IHSS program includes:

  • Medical/Health Services: Syringe feeding, catheter care, wound care, respiratory care, etc
  • Personal Care Services: Assistance with bathing, grooming, dressing, mobilizing/transferring around the home
  • Household Services: Meal preparation, laundry, light housekeeping

Would You Qualify for In-Home Support Services?

To qualify for IHSS, you must have Medicaid and a waiver that supports IHSS in Colorado. Three waivers support IHSS:

  • HCBS-EBD Waiver: For persons who are elderly, blind, or disabled.
  • HCBS Waiver for Persons with a Spinal Cord Injury.
  • CHCBS Waiver: Supports children’s home and community-based services.

    • Ages 65 and older: Must have been determined to have a significant functional impairment
  • Income Requirement: Income must be less than three times the current Federal Supplemental Security Income (SSI) limit per month, or eligibility must be maintained through the Health First Colorado Buy-In Program for working adults with disabilities.
